Rescuing Honey: The Journey of a Beagle from Euthanasia to Recovery.lisa

Honey, the beagle, faced potential euthanasia due to her weight of 68lbs, but was ultimately saved by an animal charity that guided her through a weight loss journey. Thanks to a strict diet and rehabilitation program, she managed to shed two-thirds of her body weight, making her available for adoption in the near future. Upon arriving at the SPCA of Niagara County in New York State, Honey was in poor condition, struggling to move with her belly dragging on the floor as she moved with her front paws.

After being put on medication and increasing her daily walks, the excess weight began to melt off gradually. Additionally, Honey was struggling with incontinence issues. Living with an elderly owner who suffered from dementia, she was often overfed due to repeated forgetfulness. However, things took a positive turn when the SPCA intervened. Honey was prescribed medication and put on a strict exercise regimen, including walking on a water treadmill to make movement easier. Within just half a year, she successfully shed 40 pounds, resulting in a significant improvement in her overall well-being.
